Winning project in contest.
About contest:
This is a winning project of mural in contest called "Gate to Nadodrze". The concept was chosen in January 2013 by jury and internet voting as well. The initiative was run under The European Capitals of Culture programme.
Location:
Nadodrze - a historical district of Wrocław (Poland) which is being revitalised.
Inspiration & background:
During the time of contest I was living just next to the future mural spot. I had enough occasions to look at the wall and think about idea for the mural project.
The spot is located in historical center of Wrocław. So I decided to make a graphic mash-up and use motives from archival maps, postcards and photos.
All elements of composition are closed into silhouette of old-fashioned door keyhole.
The airpship (“zeppelin”) motive is taken from XX century photo taken in Wrocław. I used it as a metaphoric “key” to the “gate” of Nadodrze city district.
