Hendrix's nautical bedroom has been designed to be used as a multi-purpose space where he is able to sleep and study, as well as get lost in his imagination and sail the high seas. Special requirements to consider are:

· A reading corner with comfy single or 1.5 size chair, with special reading light

· Single bed – can be a single, king single or trundle

· Canopy over the bed

· Wall art – wallpaper, stickers, hand painted mural

· Play area – floor

· Storage units for toys

· Window treatments – pelmet, curtain and blind

· Upholstered bedhead

· Reversible bed quilt/throw

Easy deconstruction to allow change and growth to accommodate Hendrix as he matures was considered. Recycle timbers and sustainable products were respected in the design process to minimise environmental impact.

With the Hendrix’s love for sailing, a nautical theme was an obvious choice. The colour palette is white, blue and red. The white generate a light, airy ambiance that is ideal to give a sense of being out at sea. The blue and red will give splashes of colour and interest throughout the room. Soft roman blinds mimicking the sails of a ship will cover the windows of the room. A sheer curtain will allow the illusion of breezy weightlessness. Along with the curtain and blind a straight pelmet will improve insulation in the room. Oat coloured scrim will be rolled and sprawled across the pelmet with decorative pulleys attached to imitate a ships mask.

As you walk through the door you are presented with a ramp leading onto a large platform deck. These are made from 100% recycled timbers from old ships allowing for a beautiful authentic patina and making them environmentally friendly.

The use of a bed in that shape of a boat acts as the focal piece of furniture on deck. The boats sail will act as the bed canopy. A reversible bed quilt with one side being patchwork and the other a red toil de joy with pacific blue piping will be custom made for Hendrix. This is undoubtedly enhanced by the wall-to-wall exotic fish tank, which adds a magical glow at night and that extra wow factor.

A play area on the floor will have a rug in the shape of the shell Hendrix found on your family vacation last Christmas. Floor pillows, beanbags and a 1.5 size upholstered rocking chair and ottoman will fit out this area.

Helen Phan Designs have also custom designed shelving and storage units to give ample of space to stow away toys, books and all of Hendix’s treasures.
