THE REAL POWER BEHIND THE TRUMP-KIM PEACE DEAL

Don't kid yourself, the real power broker behind the Donald J. Trump - Kim Jong Un peace "deal" [details to come] was China's Xi Jinping.
A very submissive, red-faced Jong Un, looking like a misbehaving teen who has just been punished after a tongue-lashing and dire threats, and a barely tolerant and patient XI, with a forced smile for the camera, are shown above not long before the Trump-Kim meeting.
I have little doubt Xi told Kim that if you don't stop developing nuclear weapons and blow up the test sites, we will come in and do it for you.
The Chinese have no interest in a destabilizing regime right next door. China and the Chinese government need an orderly, peaceful international trade market to survive and the U.S. is China's largest trading partner.
Finally, the Chinese had the diplomatic wisdom to let Trump "save face", an important oriental axiom, in the peace "deal". The concept of face is, of course, Chinese in origin.
But China provided the peace agreement, something far beyond the ability of either loudmouth, and Trump and Kim signed obediently and without any fuss.
