A species of oak (Quercus sp.) found an opportunity to take root in the side of Willow Creek Dam.  Oaks can be difficult to identify because multiple species will breed together, creating hybrids.  This one is most likely scrub oak (Q. turbinella) or Emory oak (Q. emoryii).
