The United States Navy provides recreation areas to be used by military members and their dependents to relax and unwind between military deployments. Eight months after Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast these areas are still closed off. Even as I celebrate the decreased need for these kinds of places now that that deployments have wound down, I mourn their loss, explicit and implicit.
