Game Pistol Redesign

Re-designing a Fictional Pistol for a Project
The P50 was a pistol that the player could get in game project I have been working on. It is to be used by the villains of the game, however the player will also be able to use it. I was to create a Game Design Document for one of my classes in Camden County Community College. This was the first image of an original weapon created for said GGD. However, my designs improved as I worked on the document and the P50 art looked generic and out of place with some of the more refined pieces.
Original Design from the GGD in 2014
After putting the project aside to work on class work and other projects as well as to improve my skills, I decided to scrap the original design and create a new look.
I first choose what I wanted to base my new design on. I then created a list of features I wanted the design to have. I wanted the design to look practical and believable. I decided to base the weapon off of the P38 from the Second World War. The pistol is to use a large caliber to differentiate it from the Service Pistol from the game which uses a smaller caliber.

I then followed up by studying the real P38 to see how it was scaled and its overall design.

Take note of the original design, I then proceeded to create drafts of the pistol and tried out different looks to see what designs worked and which ones didn't.
Concept Art from June 2017
After some thought, I decided to go with the third design. I took the concept art into Adobe Illustrator and began to create shapes to get the basic design.

I continued to refine the design. I decided to add the handle from the fourth design. I then added finalized colors, gradients and textures to the design.
Finalized Shape and Colors
With the main design completed, I went on to create accessories such as the magazine. There were some slight changes to the design. I had to reduce the ammo count from 8 to 7 due to the fact the ammo would not be able to physically fit into the design. I also proceeded to break apart the movable piece so it can be animated later.
Final Illustrator File
Satisfied with the completed design, I uploaded the picture to my personal art account and stored the files for later use.
Finalized Design.
