clown jar + lid reflection / write up

my clown piece is a jar with a lid. i was going through a clown phase so i drew a clown jar. i didn’t really reference anything apart from the picture i drew.
i started with slab and cut out a rectangular piece. i scores and slipped the edges together so that the slav would become a jar. for the bottom i just used extra slab then scored and slipped it on. the feet are just four balls. the lid was a fun challenge for me. i started with a pinch pot and i liked how it looked, however do to the wavy edges i added to the jar it did not fit at all. i changed the jar to just be flat/circular and redid the whole lid. it was another pinch pot bunch much smaller. i used slab to add the collar to the lid.
for glazing i used brick red and opalescent white clover. i decided to do a barber shop poll type stripes around the jar. the lid is the same color with red as accent. i debated between making this more colorful with blue, greens, and yellows, but i thought red and white would look best.
i really like this piece and it my favorite one i’ve made through my two years of ceramics. i’m usually good with jars and lids but for this project the lid does not fit the jar correctly. i should’ve made the jar thinner inside. it does fit though, the clown just faces the wrong direction. the clown face is my favorite part about this whole piece. it’s very simplistic looking.
