In the search for my own visual language, I have created this image that stands for my take on the memento mori paintings, showing the transience of life.
In my work I have reduced the presence of the artist to the mere shape of his hand, and the established area of symbols that usually include the skull, hourglass or smoke to the subtle presence of the grave.
The scholar man contemplating the skull becomes the common man cleaning the grave.
