Singularity Remixed — Album Art

About the project:
In July of 2016, the instrumental rock band, Standing in the Colour released a full length album, "Singularity." Shortly thereafter, a call went out to local musicians to contribute tracks to the remix companion to this album. These wildly varied reinterpretations were released in December of 2016, titled "Singularity Remixed".

The contributing remixers:
Ian Stewart (CLEME)
Andrew J Stephens (Scattered Lodges)
Dallas Holloway
Skyler Marshall
Kyle Cramb (The Coma Calling)
UJ Pesonen
Kevin Wildt (KVNWLDT)
Daniel Davis (Living Ghost)
David Lord

About the artwork:
Like the music, this visual aspect is also a reinterpretation of the 2016 release "Singularity". More about that artwork can be found here. With how varied and vibrant the remixes were, the band knew they needed the artwork to be just as colorful and crafted. So, I got my friend and amazing local artist Dustin Parker involved. Parker took the previous album's files and worked his magic. Using his signature textured and colorful look, a different yet similar cover was created. I then took Dustin's live files and tweaked them to better tie in with the band's aesthetic. The new album cover pays respect to the original art, while also visualizing the concept of the remix album. This new and exciting look was then used in other promotional banners and videos.

About the band:
Formed in 2009, Standing in the Colour are an experimental rock band from Wichita, KS. The trio is made up of husband and wife Mike (drums, electronics) and Erin Gangwere (bass), and Erin’s brother, Mark Green (Guitar). Their approach to songwriting is prismatic and larger than the sum of its parts. Each song is founded in the expanse of post-rock but rarely stays put, unfolding and contorting to expose layers of progressive metal, electronic, and ambient music.
