This fungus-like character was inspired by a varietals of fungi located in New Zealand. And since fungi are not gendered, I decided to keep the character somewhat androgynous, so you can address this creature as a he/she. I was achieving a mythical-being heartened by a story my grandparents have shared, about various creatures roaming in the forests and this was my intake of a guardian of the forest.
Krieger the Keeper
A character design and mini storyboard of a fungus-like creature named Krieger, a guardian in the deep forests of New Zealand. The story begins with its daily routine of watching over the woodlands but eventually became bored and started dancing. As he was so engrossed with his dancing skills and less of his surroundings, he tripped on a nearby stone and fell to the ground. Unfortunately the creature's staff - which carried its life force - broke in two and everything faded to black.
