Kent District Library is an award-winning public library system operating 18 branch libraries that serve nearly 400,000 residents of 27 different municipalities throughout Kent County. A leading library in civic, community and library awards, KDL is an IRS-designed 501(c)(3) nonprofit supported by millage dollars and private donations. KDL is a member of the Lakeland Library Cooperative.

A printed Fact Book is issued every year to the board members and high stakes donors. Within the Fact Book is everything from the history of the library to broken down statistics in graph form. These graphs display each library branch as well as KDL as a whole and comparative information from other library systems.

Based on the given statistics, design a 70-page book using the KDL branding guidelines. 

With the statistics given in a graphical format using Excel, we upgraded the Fact Book from last year by manually creating each graph instead of simply placing the Excel graphs onto the pages. This not only improves the aesthetics, but makes it more legible to the viewers. Each graph was deliberately created to enhance the cleanliness of the design and uses color coding intended to foster cohesiveness throughout.

This project was high turnaround with multiple editors, leaving hardly any wiggle room for apprehension with design or errors.

An accompaniment of the Fact Book is the Annual Report, which displays more story-like features with graphical statistics mixed in. It conveys to the community the complete story of the library condensed to a more playful and concise format.

Design a 13-page Annual Report with information highlighted from the 2016 Fact Book and endeavors KDL has initiated throughout the year.

With direction from the leadership team, we worked with Sabo PR to brainstorm ideas for format, layout, and flow of the report. Sabo took on majority of this project while we hashed out the Fact Book. Taking graphical elements from the Fact Book, the marriage of the two pieces works together harmoniously.
