The Mortal Instruments||Book Cover Redesign (Books 1-3)
The Mortal Instruments is a best selling series by author Cassandra Clare. The story and covers are well known across the world.
My research approach to this project was to look at the original covers, resdesigned covers, and international editions. I noticed that majority of the covers all had a visual language of a certain color palette per book. I wanted to stay away from this and keep only one color for the cover background.
I wanted all the covers to be connected and my way of doing this is by the color palette. My restrictions was to mainly stick with typography and an illustration that is significant to each of the books. The Mortal Instruments (the Mortal Cup, Mortal Sword, and Mortal Mirror) all play a significant role in the first three books.
