Packing for a motorcycle trip can be challenging, especially when riders are leaving for a place they have never been. Since gear is subjected to unpredictable weather and harsh road conditions, it is very important to purchase high-quality items that can withstand the rigors of the road.

Luggage for a motorcycle trip should be rugged, waterproof, and durable. Seasoned riders suggest buying the biggest piece of luggage your bike can accommodate. The extra space will not be wasted.

Cold weather and rain gear is essential for any long-distance ride. Breathable materials such as Gore-Tex will keep the rider dry and comfortable. In addition, riders should bring a balaclava, a pullover that fits under the helmet and over the face, extending down around the neck, as well as a second pair of gloves.

Clothing items should be manufactured from synthetic materials or wool rather than cotton, since those materials dry faster and wick moisture away from the skin. Even for longer trips, riders should only take four to five days’ worth of clothing to save space. Most likely, laundry can be done at some point.

Camping and cooking supplies will vary depending on the terrain. In general, gear should be high-quality, lightweight, and durable. Tools should always be handy, but given space and weight limitations, riders should opt for multi-purpose tools whenever possible.

Miscellaneous items such as tie down straps, duct tape, zip ties, epoxy, personal items, a good hydration pack and portable are all essential for a comfortable ride. A decent camera will help capture memories from the trip.
