VOICES: My Creative Journey

INTRODUCTION
For this assignment we were tasked with telling our personal experience with art, and how we came to be the person we are now. This is my creative journey, and I will talk about what shaped me.

Hardware: Dell xps12
Software: Adobe Illustrator
Platforms: Adobe Spark Video, Behance

CREATIVE PROCESS
For this project we were provided with a set of questions to answer about our lives in relation to art. This was a good starting point to get some ideas going, so I started by first answering all the questions. The questions specifically related to the purpose behind making the story and organizing when they happened.

SCRIPT
After organizing some ideas through these questions I started working on a script. I followed some of the points I touched on through the questions but make them seem more open.

STORYBOARD
After organizing my script into 3 distinct parts which outlined my journey, I started work on the storyboard. I drew while reading through the script and focused on highlighting only the most important parts within the script.
This was one of several storyboards, each time the style and number of points I focused on changed
FINAL DRAWINGS
My final drawings were made in illustrator, using basic shapes and the pen tool to create them. The goal with the style of drawings was chosen to make it appear like a comic strip. Each scene has minimal colours, with colour being added only to emphasize the most important aspect.
The colour here is specifically used on the book, in the scene I talk about how much I loved books. Since that is the point I am trying to convey it should get most of the attention.
VOICE OVER
For the voice over, I stuck to the script closely but more so said what felt natural.

CONCLUSION
I had a lot of fun telling this story. It was difficult to focus in on one reoccurring theme within my life, but I eventually organized my thoughts around it. The project really challenged me, in both scripting as well as building. I was satisfied with the outcome but felt it would have been far better had I taken a little more care of the script writing.
