Color Theory - Master's Interpretation

At the beginning of this assignment, I was given a small square cut out from an already existing painting. Without knowing what the original painting was, I used the colors and shapes in the swatch to create a new composition and hide the square inside my painting. When I saw my swatch, I thought it looked like something you would see in a petri dish so I tried to make it feel like it was growing and expanding from the center. To keep with the natural theme of my painting, I decided to make the edge an organic, bumpy circle. (The original painting was "Four Dancers" by Edgar Degas)
