The Ten Commandments

The Ten Commandments
It's all a matter of interpretation
This project was made during my second year of Graphic Design studies.
I created a booklet showing images, newspaper headlines, relating to the Ten Commandments nowadays, in Israel. Each page shows two images placed on top of each other, while some connection exists between the two (cause and effect, opposites, etc.).

In order to view the images separately (one at a time), you have to look once through the blue slide, and once through the red slide (just like those in 3D glasses). If you happen to have a pair right next to you, you are welcome to try.

right: endpaper is a pattern of the Menorah, a symbol of Judaism since ancient times and the emblem of the modern state of Israel.

"You shall not kill."
"Six family members were stabbed and burned."

text on the right:
You shall have no other gods before me.You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and fourth generation of those who reject me, but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments
commandment: "You shall not make wrongful use of the name of your God"

the typography is a collection of the daily expressions that use the name of god ("oh my god" etc.)
on the left: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the Holocaust
"Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you."
"Son murdered his mom in cold blood, father will forgive."
"You shall not steal."
