Bridging the Gap; Art Meets Music

Bridging The Gap; Art Meets Music
Bridging the Gap; Art Meets Music, is a series designed to celebrate the two worlds of art and music. Six guitars will be designed and built using graphic design techniques, and woodworking fabrication. Each guitar will embody the central theme of art and music.

Over the course of a year, each guitar will be given two months to be designed and created, along with supporting objects (ie. straps and cases). Guitars will be constructed to the highest quality standard possible for me to achieve, and will be completely functional.

To this date, three guitars have entered the preliminary sketching phase.
Though I have not built a guitar from the ground up, I have designed and built guitars like this before. My goal for this project is to create something that is just as usable as it is aesthetically pleasing.

When finished, this project will be donated to the local music shops in my home town. These businesses have provided so much to the community in the form of new instruments to the local high schools. I would like to use this opportunity to give back to the organizations that made music possible for many people.

Though my long term carrier goal is not to become a luthier, I would like to pursue a carrier in design fabrication. A happy medium between graphic design and building things with you own hands.
