Mochi ice cream is a hand held frozen dessert that brought together two cultures in a delicious treat. This was the main inspiration for this project, the clashing of two cultures, the east meets the west. For the name “moo moo” refers to the sound a cow makes, this alluding to the origin of ice cream, while in Japanese “Yuki” means snow and happiness. Combining these two we get the name of the brand  Moo Moo Yuki. Since Japan is very known for its creative ways to package food I wanted to honor this by creating a unique brand that reflected the culture, but a more contemporary and modern side of this asian country. By mixing lots of very graphic patterns I created an effect that its inspired by traditional Japanese print collaging with a modern twist. One of the biggest challenges of the container was creating a structured that would uphold low temperatures and could also be waterproof. There was an extensive exploration of materials like plastic and foils. Inspiration for the package design were not limited to food industries, but we have some observations on problem solving with products like skin care, soap, small desserts and even clothing
