The brief required us to work on silhouettes and shapes that would fit in the category of 'art to wear'. We had to re-imagine the human body as an empty canvas. During the project, I started working on amoeboid and/or amorphous shapes that exist in nature. I also drew inspiration from the works of graffiti artist Banksy. His style of expressing social-political issues in the most visually unapologetic way inspired me. I looked at nudity and uncontrolled organic growth of human parts for form inspiration. I was trying to break gender norms, by questioning what really is a nude form? and how does gender really perform in the nude? also, a lot of focus was on 'wearability' of the form, and the technological functions it could offer. A trend forecast for holographic textiles, luminous yarns and tech-infused garments was a major source of material/textile direction. The hard shell in the ensemble has led lights installed on the inside. Throughout the project, I derived statements that I would want to communicate, and I would communicate them using forms/textile drapes on the human body. the statement for the executed form is "anyone u want me to be".
