Havasupai Travel Poster

The Havasupai Immersion
By: Keegan Spotts and Dean Angelo
Introduction:
We hope that this poster inspires you to visit the beautiful land of the Havasupai tribe at some point in the future. We created this poster together when we were assigned the task of making a travel poster for one of our school's immersion trips. We chose the Havasupai immersion because we both thought it was a very stunning and diverse place. This was also our first experience using photoshop, and we were really satisfied with how it turned out and how much we learned during the process. Final photo background by Stephen Leonardi.
Inspiration:
When we first chose Havasupai, we both knew that we wanted to incorporate the waterfall into our poster, as we believe it is an iconic part of Supai. While looking at other posters, we decided that we wanted to use different fonts and styles to make certain words pop out.

Sketches and Ideas:
We did a lot of research on the Havasupai tribe, and we found out some very interesting things. First, they have a huge reliance on the horse, and we knew we wanted to incorporate them into our design somehow. We also looked at the tribe's crest and were interested in their feather-like emblem. After some research, we found out that the emblem shows their friendship with the Hopi and Hualapai tribes. We also wanted to find a way to add this to our poster because it shows the tribe's heritage.
Drafts: During the process, we came up with two main drafts. The one draft uses more of a technique of inserting photos into another photo, while the other uses the technique of using a darker background and popping words. Both of these turned out to be really impressive, and both were great works of art in our opinion.

Final Version: After debating and thinking for a while, we decided to chose the 1st draft that we had made, because it was the more intricate one, and it used more techniques of the Photoshop Program. The installed pictures inside the background image turned out really well, and they showed out to look realistic as if they were in the original background image.
