Ad Campaign for Kentucky Humane Society

Brief
The Humane Society is a nationwide organization that is responsible for the largest number of animal shelters in the United States. They are divided by states and cities. The Kentucky Humane Society has nine shelters all over the state as well as foster homes in the surrounding areas. KHS is the oldest animal agency in Kentucky and the largest animal welfare organization in the state. As a private, non-profit animal welfare agency, KHS finds loving homes for more than 6,000 cats and dogs a year. Not only do they offer pet adoption, but they also offer behavior training, boarding, doggie daycare, grooming, humane education for kids, affordable spay/neuters and summer camp for kids.

Kentucky Humane Society is the largest pet adoption service in the state. They work hard to increase shelter pet awareness as well as offer all kinds of support to their surrounding communities. They have been around for over 125 years. KHS is not part of any state or federal agency, nor are we a branch of any national humane organization. It is through the generosity of private supporters, corporations and foundations that we are able to continue our life-saving programs. KHS is the only animal welfare agency in the state to receive Charity Navigator’s highest rating for fiscal responsibility.

The time period for the plan is from March 2013 - September 2013.

By using copy that emphasizes the relationship between a shelter pet and an adopter, it will give a warm-hearted and fun feel to shelter pet adoption. Creative and high frequency advertising will not only help bring awareness to Kentucky Humane Society, but it will also help to inspire people to learn more about them and truly consider adopting a shelter pet.
Outdoor (4)
Shelter adoption not only is more affordable than purchasing a purebred, but it also saves the lives of dozens of other animals - not just the one you are adopting. A shelter pet can be just as good - if not better - of a pet as a
purebred animal.

A pet can be more than just something that takes up space - it can be a family member that can travel with you and enjoy your hobbies alongside you.

People will drive more during the spring and fall rather than the winter - they’ll have work, school, and other responsibilities to travel to and from that they may not have during the summer. They are more likely to see the
outdoor advertising while driving to these places as they’ll be placed next to busy roads near schools and highways. Promotional die cut gator board stand ups will be placed in Forest Preserves, on beaches and lakes in order to reach people while they are doing their favorite activities. It will get them to think about how enjoyable it would be to have a companion with them to enjoy their hobbies with.
Transit (2)
People commute more during the spring and fall driving to work, school and other responsibilities and will be more likely to use or be near to transit vehicles on a daily basis. The goal is to emphasize that despite their busy lives or city living, a shelter pet could still be their companion.
Outdoor - Gator Board Die-Cut Pop Up
The more they see Kentucky Humane Society, the more aware of it they will be. The promotion die cut gator board stand ups make people more aware of all of the things that they can do with their pet, like bring them to dog friendly parks and beaches as well as lakes (floating in the water for fishing spots).
30 sec. Television Script
People on a set schedule due to school and work are more likely to watch television at a certain time every day such as before they leave for home or after they return.
30 sec. Radio Script
People will get up earlier and are more likely to listen to the radio on a morning commute or during a set schedule. July is full of summer BBQ’s for Independence Day holiday and family reunions - very dog friendly get together. It’s also a month that is heavy with vacationers, who may have enjoyed having a dog companion with them on vacation. Country music station WAMZ FM and adult hot contemporary music WZMA-FM will reach our targeted audience.
Phone Application
Used for the entirety of the campaign because it will be an essential part to helping people get “hands on” with finding the perfect pet for them. Won’t need to wait for the shelter to open to call and don’t need a computer to see what pets are available. They can access the application directly after seeing an advertisement.
