Multiple studies have found that earbuds can cause an eleven fold increase in bacteria of the ear.
Middle ear infections, Ear fungus's, Swimmers ear, Ear mites, Pustules, Blackheads and even Pimples can all be caused by excessive use of earphones.
Ultraviolet lighting is therefore used in order to sterilize said earphones and prevent harmful bacteria from entering the ear.
