The photo is of me at 2 in the morning under a streetlamp holding a road flare. I chose this because the harsh light directly above me combined with the bright red glow below me give the picture a cool effect. Normally, with the streetlight, all of the features like my nose and face would be completely black. This means that the only thing bringing those features out is the flame of the flare. I gave my phone to my friend Tony who I thought had some design sense in him. Unfortunately, that was wrong. Luckily, he took about 20 different photos and I was able to salvage one of them. I cropped the photo down to remove some of the excess border and line it up to the rule of thirds. I tried tweaking the vibrancy and hues, but with the harsh light from the flair, nothing could be changed without it drastically washing it out. The only edit that made the cut was a little unsharp mask to bring out some of the detail in the coat. This project rekindled my love of photography, and my mind is buzzing with ideas. I might play around with the idea of road flares when I get a real camera.
