Trees represent strength and growth. This fig tree is an important part of South End as it was one of the things that were not demolished during apartheid but remained. My idea of using the tree stemed from when Junaid Muller was speaking of the remained landmarks and I got a feeling of strong gratitude from him. So I was inspired to incorporate the tree into the logo and to also show diversity. 

The significance of the tree is that it is not just a tree but a fig tree, also known as ‘the tree of knowledge’ between good and evil. This is where my logo comes in.
