Design flow

A new insight that emerged while creating the candy bar was design flow. While in the early stages of development I found it challenging to get the image and text to work together.
Nothing was working together and it looked very amature. I had to take a step back from aimlessly pushing pixels around. I went back to paper and drew what I was meant to be desiging(a high end candy bar, called “delicious cherry”/previously “very cherry”). I imagined curved lines and an image that had a flow.

The drawing the left was what I came up with, I design where both the text and the image compliment each other. Both blend into one another and they look like they belong.

The next step was to bring the drawing to life. I created the original in illustrator , which worked well because it made it easy to scale and manipulate the curves. I added milk into the design, adding the milk was a compliment to the “white chocolate” text, instead of adding a glass of milk I reffered back to the flow of the design, I added a milk splash to keep with the curves of the design.

When it came to the name change, I still wanted the flow to work. Trying not to disturb the original design I created the new title with the design flow in mind. Keeping the same principals the new title is completely different to the original but still works with its surroundings.
Design Balance
In the early stages of my design I found that one side of the candy bar was too image heavy, it had everything going on while the other side remained baron. I tried fixing this several ways, a few times the design was balanced but the overall design still looked mismatched and didn’t flow, other times it looked okay but the assets felt crammed in the limited space. I started from scratch only having the red wave, upon that I found suitable images that when placed right balanced out the candy bar. As you can see in the image displayed, the red curve gives way for the inverted white curve, accompanied by cherries on either side. This subtle technique shows of a balanced and harmonious design.
