Concept Pages and Modelling in SolidWorks

Week 7
Concept Pages and Modelling in SolidWorks
23/10/17 - 27/10/17
This week our focus was the mid-term project. To recall our assignment was to create a holder for 30 Wacom Pens. We continued working on our concept pages and looked at specifically one design. I looked at my design of the spiral holder.
This was the concept page I created. I had 2 options for the spiral holder. The first option was a holder which has pockets and it would hug the pens for example the pens would clip into the holder whereas the second option didn't have pockets instead it has holes in which the pens would stand. I personally like the second option better since it would give the pens a more spiral look.
My concept is to have the pens create a spiral shape when put into the holder. Each hole would be extruded 1 inch into the platform. My concept page includes the dimensions, top view of the holder; holding the pens, the different options of the holder, description explaining the holders and a brief summary of what we were assigned to complete.
Near the end of the week we started modelling our designs for our holders. I started my design by creating a circle and extruding it then extrude cutting holes into a diagonal shape to give it a spiral look in the end. This is how far I got into modelling my shape this week since exact dimensions were required. Exact dimensions were required so that the holder can actually hold the pens and so that they wouldn't fall.
