The Girl Behind The Look

Hello! Welcome to my Behance page, where I'll be posting more of my artwork as new projects come along. This little post is just a bit of a get-to-know me, and why I do what I do.

As a teenager, it was crucial that I picked the perfect career that would make my parents and grandparents happy. After minimal thought, I decided that going into an Architecture program would be the best thing for me, because I was good at visualizing blue-prints and house designs. So, I enrolled and was accepted into the program, and three months later was my first day of college.

Fast forward another three months, where I dropped out. Its not that I couldn't do the work, I just realized that I didn't like the extensive math equations and everything else that came along with drawing out the houses. I would ignore my homework and sit in the school's library, sketching for hours. I wanted to draw, and be creative. So as I sat there, in what would be the last class I would attend in the Arc program, I thought about the other possible programs I could try.

I decided speaking with an advisor would be best, and she had recommended the Graphic Design program, and I knew it involved art, so I blindly agreed and took the leap.

I learned to love all the things that come along with just fine art, such as photography, digital art, and everything Adobe Cloud. And I turned out to be pretty good at it. I made many friends, and I believe that we ended up teaching each other more techniques than our professors did. Not that I'm knocking the program, but it is true that many Graphic Designers have made lives for themselves without having ever taken a single course.

A few semesters later, the dreaded college strike happened, putting us out of classes for six weeks. Us students started to worry that there wouldn't be enough time to complete our final projects in order to move onto our final semester. So the college came up with an offer. We could withdraw from the program, and get a portion of our tuition back. I thought about it good and hard, and I decided to withdraw and come back the following year to redo it and continue on the path to graduation.

Fast forward exactly one year, and school still hasn't worked out for me. Some people would agree that college isn't for everyone, and if you can find a way to be successful without it, why sign up in the first place?

So here I am! I'm a freelancer with the world at my fingertips and a ton of imagination. I am so excited for my career to unfold and see where it takes me.

Hope you're along for the journey!
