Visual, Audible, and Spacial Explication

Visual, Audible, and Spacial Explication

The findings that arose from my thesis focused on the symbiotic relationship between music and design, made evident with the release of ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’, ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’, and ‘Blue Monday’. With this relationship, elements of ownership, discovery, physical engagement and experience arose as key factors for the re-emergence of an old format in an age of digital and streaming.
These core elements took the path of creating a physical object that embodied old formats that are of personal significance to me, and exploring the symbiotic relationship between sound and object.
The exhibited space is stripped of aesthetic and design, with subtle reference to influential album releases. The aim of this project was to create a visual, audible, and spatial embodiment of my thesis research and findings, explicating audio excerpts from said thesis and the visualisation of object and sound interaction.

These poster compositions depict the transformation from object to sound, and from sound back to image. The objects used feature in the gatefold design.
