the first week was just a welcome week, where we were introduced to the course and each other...
We did a bit of sketching and went back to some basics: Weight of line, lighting, form, ellipsing, etc.
In the process, my friend and classmate, Yatharth Ruhela, showed me tips and small hacks to draw anime characters (Japanese cartoon characters). He and I both enjoy watching anime so this was a neat little lesson I had.
This week, we got onto sketching and photoshop. Learning about the weight of line and lighting is very important when it comes to graphics because with that, we can make the object we are sketching would stand out better and the points of interest would stand out.
We received our first project in this class this week. Our teacher, Mr. Currie, instructed us to create a poster on a designer of any kind that inspires us and we would like to follow somehow. I chose to research on Frank Lloyd Wright, because I want to become a civil engineer when I grow up and he is just that. That and I loved his architectural designs, my favorite is his design for the Fallingwater Residence. I loved how that 3 story house was divided into 3 pods on a mountain with the water running right through the house as a waterfall.
