First Things First Manifesto

The task was to create a layout of the content of the First Things First Manifesto in a personal way, giving a visual idea to the concept chosen, with different restrictions such as the use of only black, one font and one weight and the ban to put any kind of decorations.
The layout is set dividing all the text in small paragraphs, some set in capital letters and some in lower case, to emphasize the idea of different voices and tone of voice that are behind the text.

The First Things First manifesto was written 29 November 1963 and published in 1964 by Ken Garland and was backed by over 400 graphic designers and artists.
Reacting against a rich and affluent Britain of the 1960s, it tried to re-radicalise a design industry which the signatories felt had become lazy and uncritical.
It was later updated and republished with a new group of signatories as the First Things First 2000 manifesto.
