I recently lost an aunt to cancer. The illness took the entire family by surprise and before we were even able to process the information, she was gone.

What struck me, as I was there watching the effects grief can have on a family, is just how unprepared we all are to cope with loss. It was especially heartbreaking to see the effects the loss had on my teenage cousins, who had no way of dealing with the loss of their mother. What I witnessed in my cousins was a feelings ranging from alienation over despair to flat out rage.

I wanted so bad to help them, but being equally unprepared myself, I had no way to. This particular issue has haunted me and is the main reason why I think it is important to educate teenagers who are dealing with loss.
this left me with the questions:

How does grief affect teenager boys? What emotional process does a person who has suffered a great loss go through? How do I create a product that can help that teenager become aware of the process and know how to deal with it?

Through my research (which you can see Here) I determined that the best possible way to reach my target group was by educating them to the effect of grief. With this in mind, I created two products, a game (which entertains the teenage boys) and a strategy guide (which educates the teenage boys). In the links below you will find a short presentation of the project and of cause the products themselves.

thank you for your time and I hope you enjoy the presentation
