Flash flood in Singapore

16 June 2010.

Aftermath of the flash floods.

Flood water reached a depth of 30cm. Averging more than 60% rainfall for June. 100mm of rain swept across Singapore at the time of 8am to 11am.

The first thought that came into my mind was hell. Local and tourist knew that Orchard Road is a shopping paradise, an area to eat and shop. Yet million of dollars were soak in this unpredictable heavy downpour. Business came to a halt. Boutiques and restaurants were forced to close down due to the excess damage of equipment. Other smaller shops that were affected start clearing the water before more losses occur. There was a hinge of teamwork in an instant among the fierce competitors.
