A poster to pay tribute to the Basque fishermen's history.

They are a forgotten part of History but throughout centuries Basque fishermen have shown bravery and courage while crossing the most dangerous seas of the World looking for whales or fishes.

From Iceland to Newfoundland (where the whaling station of Red Bay is registered on the UNESCO list of world heritage sites), going through the Spitzberg, Nova Scotia or Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, they have gone through decades facing storms from the cold seas.

Maintaining friendly relationships with indigenous people, therefore opening trade routes a long time before Christopher Columbus and way before the main maritime routes we know today.

This personal work is for me a testimony of love and respect for all these -hard- workers from the sea, who loved nature as much as they had to fight it.

A loose translation for the above sentence could be:

"Waters from the ocean are deep
for those who want to dive in."
