Bez makatki nie ma chatki

This project consists of three font designs inspired by traditional Polish embroidery.
Each of them was used to create a makatka (a Polish name for a decorative piece of cloth on which traditional proverbs used to be embroidered). The proverbs embroidered on my makatkas were:  Chłop do kielni, baba do patelni (A man is to use a trowel, a woman is to use a frying pan, suggesting a traditional role of each of them a woman is supposed to cook while a man is supposed to take care of the works requiring more physical strength), Baba bez chłopa jak chałupa bez płota (A woman without a man is like a house without a fence) and Chłop robotny i baba pyskata zawojują pół świata (A diligent man and a woman able to talk back shall conquer half of the world).

The fonts were also used to create decorative pillows, on which quotes from famous people were embroidered. The mottos used in my project were: Piękno się nie rodzi, piękno się robi (Some beauty queens are made, not born) by Osmel Sousa, Piękno jest doskonałością z defektami (Beauty is perfection with imperfections) by Gilbert Adair and Piękno jest tylko sumą świadomości naszych zboczeń (Beauty is but the conscious sum of all our perversions) by Salvador Dali.
