Revive L
branding / illustration / website design

The goal of this project was to design and brand an event for an organization or company that was struggling with their public image. I chose the MTA, and specifically the L train, which is in the midst of unpopular public sentiment because of ongoing problems and the looming shutdown.

The event, which I called “Revive L,” was a community party and celebration of the L, on the train itself. It would include Brooklyn-based food and drink, musicians, artists, and performers.

My first designs included black and white photographs I had taken myself of commuters on the subway. Across them I created bands of colorful illustrations. The commuters universally looked bored; I illustrated what they’d rather be doing—drinking a cocktail or eating a taco, for example. Additional rollout included illustrations all utilizing this visual language in various ways.
