Tyler Myers - Still an Oyster Champion

It’s been quite some time since April when I was able to see Tyler The Oyster Champion on Dauphin Island.

I am looking back at these photos and remembering seeing him again a year after my initial contact with him, and just finding myself amazed by his success and his overall shift in ethos.

Tyler had some difficulties through legalities and since has become more resilient and just as motivated to be the best oyster farmer ever to walk the face of the earth.

I found myself really comforted by his welcome presence as always. It was great to see his work again and all the time and effort he puts into his craft. He offered me a fresh oyster, and I admit I was really hesitant. Especially after he mentioned they were still alive. He attempted to console my fears by saying, “Think of it as a rock.”
Pictured is the oyster that I happily murdered inside my gullet. We clapped out oysters together and said Cheers and downed the oysters together.

I have to admit… it was excellent.

Thanks again to Tyler for letting me bug him while he was working. It’s always a pleasure to see him. He also stopped by out beach house for a while and I was able to sit down him and my mother for a while and just chat which was nice. I really look forward to seeing the growth of everything as the years progress for him.
