Working through this project it came to my attention that the cover design need to work well on its own as well as in a collection. So I was aiming for a universal design so it could link to all of the many stories Brother Grimm's have created.
I started to look at the famous icons for the vast amount of fairy tales out there, just like the fairy princess, the knight, the crown, the tower and so on. I was aiming for a design that kept the story a mystery till the reader started to dive into the magical world wither it was a knights quest, a princess kiss....

After creating the book cover I found the design to childish and as you may know Grimm's Fairy Tales weren't that happy and colourful. So to develop the cover more I came up with the idea of the story's escaping the book, entering your room like a nightmare coming true.
This brought me the idea of the wallpaper and the book growing out of the wall and into your home.

So my Puffin book design evolved into a wallpaper design as well.
