Project “A Piece of Soap"-creative packaging

"Handmade Soap" is a kind of skin care product via cold processing method, which allows it to keep most of the nutritions that are beneficial for our skin.

"Cold processing" is fun enough for soap makers and it also gives customers good user-experience.

We did some research on most of the Handmade Soap brands in China, focusing especially on the packaging part.
Even in these days, we found most brands leaving their packaging, i.e. their brand image very low-profiled. It is almost anonymously correct to do so since our customers had impressions so as handmade products should look simple or even austere in some way.
Some other brands used illustrations in their packaging to make their BI stand out among terms alike.
For our team, we decide that we want to highlight the "joyful moments" when using the products. We would like to see those moments as luxurious little happiness in our lives, as we found in applying soap foams on our faces and stroking our cheeks.
Even Confucius was recorded in literature as a man who loved to sing after bath and thought nothing more soothing and congenial than that.
The packaging is composed of three soap wrapper prints and one liquid soap print.
We had these sketches digitalized and tried to reproduce the scenarios when people are using their soaps and shampoos, including the way their hand move and their facial expressions change.
The liquid soap pattern just has this naughty resonance with Marilyn Moroe
, we hope that a reminder of her could make people smile when using washing products.
The original sketches.
The diamond-shaped wrapper will be fold up and finally become pocket-sized to envelop a piece of soap weighing about 80 grams.
We use the parchent paper to illuminate the Monroe illustration.
The three wrappers contain three versions of facial expressions, to represent three different states of sensual feelings.
