JIGSAW: 'Tadao Ando, 4x4 House '

JIGSAW

Year : last year of secondary school
School : Pikoh
Course : Architectural Forming
Project : individual

This is one of the projects I did when I was still in the secundary school. I had to pick an architect around whom I would work all year (multiple courses). Tadao Ando (a Japanese architect) was my first choise, because I was impressed by his simplistic yet thoughtful concrete structures and his use of light an shadow.
In this project we had to figure out how to make a 3D jigsaw of one of our architects buildings, which had to fit in a cube (12cm * 12cm *12cm) when assembled to be stored)
The ‘4x4 House’ was the most obvious building to select. It took a while to get the jigsaw right, but the jury was impressed with the result.
The puzzle consists out of PVC parts that have been cutted out by a water jet and a wooden box.
