Little White Lies: The Lone Ranger Issue

Little White Lies: The Lone Ranger Issue

Little White Lies is an independent, bi-monthly printed magazine dedicated to reviewing the very best films and interviewing the people behind them. Established in 2005, Little White Lies is known for mixing creative illustration and layout design with gripping journalism. The brief was to create a concept for an issue of Little White Lies Magazine. After reviewing hundreds of potential films, the movie chosen for this project was the wild west Disney adaptation of ‘The Lone Ranger’ directed by Gore Verbinski. Inspired by the way the character Tonto applies the black paint to his face, all the illustrations for this issue were created using only fingers instead of the more conventional tools such as pens and pencils. This gave the illustrations personality and along with the use of different layout techniques, helps keep the issue from being too repetitive.

"As a fan of the Little White Lies Magazines, I have always wanted to design an entire issue. The most challenging part of the project was creating the illustrations using only my fingers instead of a pencil or pen."
