Fate is for the Foolish

In this piece, I wanted to relay the idea that our lives are what we make of them; the only force that dictates our future is our own choices. The crystal ball is left empty, suggesting that the viewer can project his own idea of his future onto it. The trapped lightning bugs in the foreground and the butterflies encased in glass in the background symbolize the feeling of entrapment and the loss of freedom brought about by the belief in fate.
