Book publisher project - "Layil"
Part of a second-year semester-long book publisher project, we were asked to design a logo, biography book covers and a website.
The publisher's name, "Layil", is a word that means night in both Hebrew and Arabic, and I focused my efforts on keeping bilingual legibility in the logo.
Biography books for three well-known Israeli public figures: Yonah Vollach, poet; Chava Alberstein, musician; Tamar Gozanski, politician. I tried to address the element of privacy in public life. The reader begins the book with only parts of the figure’s portrait visible, and by the time the reading is done the figure appears exposed, her intimate life no longer a secret.
With the website, I tried to focus on clean and “airy” design, allowing for great amounts of text without scrolling, while not intimidating or exhausting the viewer.
