Avenir is a modern and stylish typeface, and it means future in French. Designed by Adrian Frutiger in 1988, Frutiger wanted the sans-serif geometric typeface to be organic and humanized. Originally, Avenir only had three weights, which was later expanded to six. The difference between the weights are barely distinguishable. Frutiger had explained that this was a response to the effect of how people perceived colour. Avenir can be used for headlines and displays, and it works perfectly as a body type as well. Its versatility is what makes Avenir perfect.
