The Trinity Test

ISTD: It Happened On This Day (Exhibition)
July 16, 1945
Brief:

This brief required the candidate to produce a typographic outcome to any day in history. I chose the Trinity Test that occurred on July 16, 1945.

Rationale:

Codename: Trinity was the very first detonation of a nuclear bomb, signaling the arrival of the atomic age and the precursor of the tragedies that occurred in Nagasaki and Hiroshima.

Through researching the scale of the horrors that happened on those cities I decided my direction would be that of an exhibition portraying how influential July 16th 1945 truly was. The exhibits would include items such as Trinitite Glass (sand transformed by the immense heat of the blast) and pieces of the support tower that was obliterated from the explosion. The panels incorporate experimental typography in materials similar to that portrayed in the exhibits and the information that is displayed on them guides the visitors through the history of the atomic age.
The first panel of the exhibition contains a brief introduction to the exhibition as well as a leaflet visitors can carry around with them to obtain further information.
