This work is the product of a semester’s investigation into stop-motionanimation through charcoal drawings. The impetus for the work was initiallydriven by the collision of horse and garment during one of the first collages I made in Florence. The character then became theprotagonist of a short stop-motion animation in which the horse struggles toput on and take off the sweater. What should be a simple action becomes a matter of great exertion, mostly due to the conflicting nature of horse and sweater. The struggle of this action exploitsthe heterotopia created by the juxtaposition of two unlike things; a horse anda sweater not meant for each other. The finished piece deals with the existential weight of an irreversibledecision, made clear by the horse’s inability to rid itself of the sweatercompletely. The video is projected life-size.  Draws heavily on the work of William Kentridge.
