Project Brief: Make a new logo and branding for KSCI in replace of their old logo

To get ideas rolling, I started with the meaning of “Keystone” to get an image of why KSCI was named KSCI, and that’s where my sketches started. Eventually I played with the idea of “logging” and incorporating what KSCI is known for selling, which is chain. The idea of chain links creating the letter “K” is not only simple, but telling. Seeing the logo, even just the letter “K” gives off the idea of what KSCI sells. For the font, I used a heavy bold font to show clarity, sturdiness and quality, which is what KSCI products are all about. For the colours, I used their signature colour of orange and black as I tried to not change too much of what they are already known for with their old branding.
The final logo was a success and I am very happy with the end results. KSCI has been using the logo on signages, product laser markings, merchandise, websites, etc.
