Character Collage

C h a r a c t e r   C o l l a g e

This project is a photo collage made in Adobe Photoshop that is based on reoccurring themes I've seen in my life. In the early stages of ideation I created word lists and maps to focus on a concept to sketch.

For this particular collage, the use of metaphorical representation was key. I used a method I like to call "letting fate decide" by browsing the Public Domain Images website to see what catches my attention and used the search bar if I needed something particular.

Directly below is the first draft.
The theme that this collage addresses is dwelling on our fears makes us look at ourselves as weaker than we really are. The setting and atmosphere together give off a threatening feeling. The child looks at the sheep and sees himself as helpless and afraid. What he does not see is that the sheep actually has a normal shadow just like all the other people, showing the reality.
