Typography and Printing in Northern Italy

Study Abroad at the Tipoteca Italiana Fondazione
In May 2012, I participated in a study abroad trip to Northern Italy. Specifically Venice, Bologna and Cornuda. While in Cornuda we worked with master-printer Alessandro Zanella at the Tipoteca Italiana Fondazione, a type museum. As an introduction to the world of letterpress and printing, I could not have asked for a greater experience. We published our own edition as a group and participated in each step of the process from setting type, to using the handpress printer, to sewing the books together, to resorting the type.
