The Missing Ladle
"The Missing Ladle" tells the urban legend of a mother who proves that her son and his female roommate are sleeping together by hiding a gravy ladle in the roommate's bed. The concept of the book's design centered around this interior content. I hand-sewed miniature pillows and bedsheets. To discover the story (and the missing gravy ladle), the viewer has to delve under the sheets.

This project was shown at Eastern Michigan University's 2010 student AIGA exhibition, as well as Eastern Michigan University's 2010 annual juried student art exhibition.
Under the first slip cover, I hand-sewed the title of the book with embroidery thread.
Inside the book, I created a bookmark out of embroidery thread and a miniature gravy ladle from a dollhouse kitchen set.
The inside pages are digitally printed; the background images are digital scans of the outside fabric.
Here is a side view of the thickness of the book binding and pillows.
