Folklore: The Starving Skeleton

I've decided to join in with twitter's COLOUR COLLECTIVE for a little while. Each week you're given a different colour, and you have 1 week to create an image using that colour in some way. For my contribution to the collective, I've decide to create an illustration of a different mythalogical beast each week I decide to take part.

This week's colour was "Ivory Black".

I wanted to do something a little creepy for this one, so after delving into my research, I decided on the Yokai, Gashadokuro (Starving Skeleton)!

The Gashadokuro is a Yokai (Japanese spirit/ demon/ monster) which is formed from the bones of those that starved to death. At midnight, they seek out and devour stranded travelers. They can supposedly turn invisible too, which makes them especially worrisome, but you can tell they're close by from the light ringing in your ears.
